James L. King of Scottdale (tribunereview)
James L. King, 91, of Scottdale, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at his
residence. Jim was born Feb. 8, 1920, at Old Bethany in East Huntingdon
Township, a son of the late Clyde and Belle Dalton King. He married the former
Anna M. Overly on Aug. 22, 1942. She passed away March 9, 2007. Jim was a
devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired
steelworker at U.S. Steel's Edgar Thompson Works in Braddock, retiring in 1983
with 32 years service. Jim was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church
at Tarrs and a veteran of World War II, serving as a private in the Army's
Company C, 1277th Engineer Combat Battalion. His tour of duty included the
Rhinelands, Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He was awarded the
Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the
World War II Victory Medal. Jim enjoyed antiques, flea markets and auctions.
Jim will be sadly missed by his loving family; his two children, James Edward
King, of Ruffsdale, and Caroll Ann King, of Scottdale; his two grandsons,
Michael James King and his wife, Lindsey, and Scott Anthony King, ...
