Bring Back Those Customers

Alright, so your little shop is not making the sales you were dreaming of. That does not necessarily spell disaster. It is just an opportunity for you to make a few adjustments and maybe a bigger effort on your behalf. Have a sale - not just any sale, have a well thought out and executed sale.

Take a quick inventory of your stock items and make a few lists. On your first list you could write down all the items which are older than five years. Here you could drastically reduce their price and get them off your shelves in no time. Repeat this will your items you want to put on sale until you have stock that is relatively new, but won't sell.

I know it's hard to cut your prices, but you will have to change your mind set otherwise you will stare bankruptcy in the face very soon. Start cleaning up your stock like dusting or polishing and display them in focal areas where you know the eye will catch them. Group maybe your britax car seat with children's toys or books.

When the shoppers arrive, they must want to walk around and look at the bargains they can find. Those items not on sale must also be dusted and priced clearly. Here you can now really make good business, because that's the main reason why you are having a sale in the first place, you need people in your store.

If you don't have one, install a small bell to the door. People love to be announced and it also gives the impression of good wholesome service. As they enter your shop make sure you put your latest item on sale like your martin acoustic guitar where it can be instantly noticed. Plug it in so people can test it.

Right, now that your shop is ready, you need to tell people of your bargain sale. Make fliers with the name of your shop, the address and of course the date. Highlight a special item or items you have on sale like for instance 'costume jewelry free shipping', if you have them to sell. Or anything that you think will draw people.

Get your family involved here by asking them to distribute your fliers at their work places, schools, churches and you can do the local supermarkets and shopping malls. Also invest in a few eats - nothing fancy, just a few peanuts and crisps with some cool drinks. Get the mothers in your shop by advertising face painting for kids, or maybe if you want to splurge, get your nephew to be a clown.

No matter what you do, you need to get people back into your shop. If you have a sale, you might just do that. They will definitely buy from you again and you could even start a newsletter informing your clients of new stock and specials that come out. The sky is the limit.

Israeli archaeologists: Tiny Christian relic found (Washington Times)

JERUSALEM (AP) -- A tiny, exquisitely made box found on an excavated street in
Jerusalem is a token of Christian faith from 1,400 years ago, Israeli
archaeologists said Sunday.

The box, carved from the bone of a cow, horse or camel, decorated with a cross
on the lid and measuring ...
