Light It And They Will Grow
Inside lighting is more than just for ambience. Depending on where you reside or what kind of pets you might have, it has many useful functions.
For one thing if you have reptiles for pets, most likely you will need some sort of special lighting depending on your species. If you have a corn snake or python type of snake you may be just fine with a simple blue or red light for nighttime heating. You can also use a light bulb right from your own lamp for this use. If you have spent money on a more exotic reptile, like certain breeds of lizards, then you need to invest in something a bit more high-tech. While in captivity these animals need particular UVB lights in order to live like they do in the wild with the sun’s rays. There are numerous wattages and sizes to go with all kind of lizard If you aren’t sure what they require, you can just look it up online or call your local vet that specializes in exotic animals. These special creatures have a sensitive system and must have the proper light in order to survive. Also in the reptile field are turtles. Each opportunity a turtle gets, they will be lounging in the sunshine. So when they are inside they should be able to live their lives as near to normal as possible with the help of a UVB light. Believe it or not, turtles are one of the most costly pets as far as their needs are concerned.
Then there is the indoor plant. What area of the globe you live on might help determine what lights you should get. You might want to buy a good LED grow light set up if you live somewhere in the extreme northern or southern hemispheres. Your options of LED designs and watts are many. They start at a straightforward 28 watt LED grow light to a 225 LED grow light panel and everything in between. Or you might want to opt for a complete grow room setup for a more jungle-like feeling. It all just depends on how much you want to spend on your hobby, both time and money-wise.
Those are only two illustrations of inside lighting and what it can do for you. There are many more alternatives to try out in the indoor lighting world. Basically there is no stop to what a few extra watts can do to your place and your happiness. So remember, even if you live in Alaska, you can spend the day in 30 below weather and come home to your indoor jungle, including snakes in the trees and ivy climbing the walls.
