Combine Function With Style In Home Decor
When you think about home decor, you start with the big things. Once the big items are out of the way, you add the little decorative items. Thanks to the multitudes of products available online today, no matter where you live, you can order the perfect accessories for your home. It can get expensive, though. When you're adding the finishing touches to your home, combine style with functionality to get the most out of your money.
Once you have filled your living room with sofas, chairs, tables, lamps and other larger functional items, you start to look for the little decorative touches. You find some beautiful vases, wall hangings and other non-functional, but beautiful things that add personality to the room and make it truly a living room.
In your kitchen, the first thing you do is have kitchen cupboards installed. Then you look for the fridge and the stove. Then you move on to the smaller appliances like the microwave and toaster. Only when you have these items do you start thinking about the other kitchen implements and decorations.
Your knife set is a good example of this. You think of it as purely functional. Knives are used for preparing food, not for showing off, you think, so you hide them away in a drawer.
A Wusthof knife set is not only functional, but beautiful. Isn't it a shame that you have it hidden away in a drawer while your toaster sits on top of the counter, even though you only use it once a day? You need your knives every time you come into the kitchen, so shouldn't they be easily accessible?
Get a knife block set and show off your beautiful knives. Give them pride of place on your bench top. They tell the world that you are a gourmet cook and they are always at your fingertips, ready to use whenever you need them throughout the day.
You will find working in the kitchen so much more pleasurable if you have one of these knife blocks filled with an assortment of quality knives. It is easier to pull a toaster out from a cupboard than to fish around for a knife in a drawer, so by doing this one simple thing, you have combined style and function perfectly.
Take a look at all the rooms in your home. You will notice that there are a lot of little nick-knacks that mean nothing to you anymore. Wouldn't it be better to use that space wisely and display some functional art?
Going to get a bigger fish tank need advise!!!?
okay right now i have a blue green betta(named hatori) and and cory catfish(named cory) both in a large fish vase. but i now also have a 20 gallon and plan on moving them both into it very soon. i need some ideas with tank mates. i've had guppies, platties , and neon tetras with bettas before. also one of my favorites are the mollies(can you guess why lol) any way i was just wondering which are best and how many to get for a 20 gallon tank before i actually get it set up.
um,.. mainly i was asking HOW MANY and WHAT KIND.
also i was wondering if i did get them how should i intro duse them. i do have one of those breeder things that go in the water. and i plan on putting the betta in before i get other fish.
ok well get you tank heavily planted- and you can get neon tetras mollys more corys!! cory might want some buddies so get him 3-4 buddies. i've got my betta with 3 neon tetras, no problems, 4 cories no problem, and he used to be with two mollys. so all of those are ok. i would say any community fish will go good with your betta. and don't listen to those people who think bettas need to be alone because "thye only are in a small rice paddy" but they're wrong since betta are engineered fish they do not come from the wild. they come from fish farms or a factory or a breeder. not the wild. bettas out in the wild do not have a pretty tail and are in fast moving rivers.
