**GOP Debate Not-So-Liveblogging**
Over the weekend I ran across my recap of the Republican CNN/You Tube debate
from late November, 2007. Boy, what a bunch that was: Tom Tancredo, Duncan
Hunter, Huckster, Mittster, Ron Paul (his debut as the "not quite as crazy as
the others" guy), Rudy 911, McCain. Oh, and, of course, the great savior of
the party that year, Fred Dalton Thompson. This was almost a year before the
Great Economic Meltdown of '08, and what's striking is that today the current
field is _still_ talking about the same stuff in the same way and in the same
proportion: scary brown people bad, torture good, Democrats evil, rich people
awesome, poor people lazy, gays sinful, women's private parts = government
property. And the economy? Eh, nothing that eliminating entire government
departments, cutting taxes on billionaires and privatizing Social Security
can't fix. No big whoop.
For nostalgia's sake, check out the awesomeness of the Class(less) of 2008,
circa four years ago in St. Petersburg, Florida. And wait'll you see what they
booed back then:
